The calculation
The one-inch reference converts pixels in the photo into a physical measurement. ArsenalHQ finds the greatest center-to-center distance between the marked shots, converts that spread to inches, and adjusts it for the entered distance.
For the best result, use a clear photo taken as square to the target as practical and mark the reference and shot centers carefully.

Common questions
MOA means minute of angle. It is an angular measurement that lets shooters compare group sizes recorded at different distances. One MOA spans about 1.047 inches at 100 yards.
Divide the group size in inches by 1.047 multiplied by the distance in yards divided by 100. This calculator performs that calculation for you.
Yes. Measure between the centers of the two most widely separated shots. A common method is to measure the outside spread and subtract one bullet diameter.
