What goes into cost per round
Bullet
Bullet package price divided by the number of bullets in the package.
Primer
Primer package price divided by the number of primers in the package.
Powder
Container price divided by its total grains, multiplied by the entered charge weight.
Brass
Case price divided by the expected number of uses for that case.

The result reflects the consumable component prices you enter. Shipping, tax, equipment, case loss, rejected components, and your time can all change the true cost. Factory comparisons are estimates based on the box price you provide.
Charge weight is used only to calculate powder cost. This calculator does not provide load data or determine whether a load is safe.

How is reloading cost per round calculated?
Add the bullet cost, primer cost, powder cost, and the portion of brass cost assigned to one loading. Package prices are divided by their quantities, while powder price is converted from pounds to grains.
How does the calculator price powder?
One pound contains 7,000 grains. The calculator divides the container price by the total grains in the container, then multiplies that figure by the charge weight you enter.
How should brass cost be calculated?
This calculator spreads the purchase price of each case across the number of uses you expect from it. Expected case life varies, so use a conservative estimate based on your components, firearm, process, and inspection practices.
Does this include equipment or time?
No. The result covers the consumable component prices entered here. It does not include presses, dies, tools, shipping, tax, electricity, or the value of your time.
Does a lower cost mean a handload is safe?
No. Cost and safety are unrelated. Charge weight is used here only to calculate powder cost. Always use current published load data and safe loading practices.
